A more youthful appearance is possible with certain cosmetic surgery procedures and with new advances in there are ways to achieve this look using natural fat.
When to Consider Fat Transfer
- If you have facial areas that appear creased and sunken
- If you desire more permanent correction than is provided by temporary fillers
- If you wish to improve your body contour, revise scars, fill bodily depressions and rejuvenate your hands and face
- For use in breast reconstruction, to fill in contour irregularities or hide obvious signs of breast implants
Many might be familiar with liposuction surgery that removes the fat from unwanted areas of the body, but fat grafting is a procedure that involves the transferring of fat from areas of the body that have excess fat, such as the outer thighs or the abdomen, and injecting it into other areas that are lacking volume, such as the face or buttocks. The procedure is safe, long-lasting and a great solution to create natural results.
Dr. Romano has used the fat grafting technique in a number of his patients’ cosmetic surgeries, i.e. chin enhancement, chest enhancement and skin resurfacing. This procedure is typically recommended because it uses autologous fat (fat from your own body) instead of dermal fillers which can reduce allergic reactions in some patients. Fat transfers are long lasting, natural and safe and can be a noninvasive method for facial rejuvenation and body contouring procedures.
The procedure is rather simple. Fat is harvested from areas with excess like the thighs or the buttocks through liposuction. The cannulas incisions are small, thus the scar will be small and often time hidden in certain areas of the body. The fat is then purified and filtered to remove impurities and then injected into the desired area, like the hands, face, lips, breasts, buttocks, and more. Since fat grafting is used to augment or fill in volume-deficiencies. Patients with depressions, dimples or loose skin are great candidates, as long as there are no circulatory issues. Dr. Romano and his staff will complete a full evaluation and consultation prior to your procedure to determine what the best procedure would be to fit your desires.
