How Dr. Nguyen Stands Out

It is a privilege to channel my passion for art and artistry into my career, where I provide the art and science of plastic surgery to my patients.

I am a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of California (UC) Los Angeles with a B.S. in Bioengineering. I attended UC Irvine School of Medicine and graduated first in my class. I was given the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Graduating Student and The Department of Surgery Award for my outstanding performance during medical school in addition to being inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. I completed my residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UC San Francisco (UCSF), a top tier training program for plastic surgeons.

Early in training at UCSF, I won first place in the annual surgical skills lab competition. I was also the resident lead for the Botox and Injectables Free Clinic where I learned and taught this skill to my peers. I have been nominated for the Honor Roll multiple years in a row for the premiere women in surgery group called the Muriel Steele Society at UCSF. I have had excellent training at UCSF, where I continue to volunteer as a cosmetic surgery clinical instructor. I also provide plastic and reconstructive surgical care at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

I have extensive research experience with multiple publications in academic journals and textbooks. I was given a prestigious grant from the Plastic Surgery Foundation and the Association for Surgical Education for my research titled, “Overlapping Worlds of Art and Plastic Surgery: Implications for Surgical Training”, which led me to complete a Masters of Art in Education at UC Berkeley. I am also a published medical illustrator, contributing to the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal, and illustrating for Personalized Breast Care: Guide to Cosmetic Surgery, Breast Cancer, and Reconstruction.
