Symmastia is a most disturbing consequence of breast implant surgery. It is an unusual condition after breast enlargement in which one or both implants cross over the midline to the opposite side, obliterating or deforming or creating bands across the cleavage. Patients often call this “uni-boob” or sometimes “bread loaf breast.”
Dr. Romano corrects symmastia by removing the implants and re-creating the correct breast pockets with internal stitches. He then replaces the implants in the correct position. In Dr. Romano’s skilled hands, neither external stitches nor bulky compressed devices are required. The surgery is safe and very comfortable. Virtually immediately after surgery you see your result, which will continue to improve with time.
Symmastia, often referred to as “uni-boob” by patients, is a most disturbing consequence of breast implant surgery.
It can be very mild to quite severe and is consistently unacceptable to patients who have it. There is no reason why women have to put up with this condition, and it is most reasonable to seek correction. I can help you with this issue. Symmastia is an unusual condition after breast enlargement in which one or both implants cross over the midline to the opposite side, obliterating or deforming or creating bands across the cleavage. Patients often call this “uni-boob,” “uni-boob,” “bread loaf breast,” or other such things.
Surgical correction of symmastia involves removing the implants and re-creating the correct breast pockets with internal stitches, then replacing the implants in the correct position. Often, smaller implants are used. In my hands it never involves any external stitches or bulky compressed devices. The surgery is safe and very comfortable. Virtually immediately after surgery you see your result, and it just gets better with time. All of the stitches are dis-solvable, and the recovery is rapid; you can return to work in several days and to some physical exercise within the first week.
Surgery to correct symmastia is one of the numerous breast procedures I perform in my practice. I have performed many of these procedures over the years with consistently beautiful and natural results. I have special expertise in this procedure and spend a great deal of time discussing your anatomy, listening to your expectations, and interpreting for you what your anatomy and body will safely and predictably allow me to do. In addition I build a system into every surgery that, initially, allows you to recover much more quickly and, secondly, preserves your surgical results. This system includes a special diet, vitamins, supplements, special garments, breast exercises, skin products, physical training, and knowing what to avoid. Together all of this allows me to create results that are consistently very beautiful, quick to heal, and exceptionally natural. I use minimal incisions, especially in an area of such great importance to women.
