Liposuction—Face & Neck

Fat in the neck and face is by far the most common reasons that patients of all ages come to see me for facial rejuvenation. I understand how disturbing this can be to men and women alike, and I am pleased that I can treat this issue and provide you with this facial surgery that has a quick recovery time and is one of the most gratifying to satisfy.

Features in this case, consist of excess fat in any location in the face and neck. It is most commonly seen as a thick, bulky fullness in the neck, mostly in the front, but often in the sides and even down to the collarbones. Fat is also common in the jowls where it creates a shadow that extends down from the lips to the jaw-line edge. Fat can be present in the cheeks, laugh lines, and in front of the ears. A more elusive fat pocket, called the buccal fat pad, a deeper and different fat pocket that may be present mid-face beneath the cheekbone Facial fat relates anatomically to the muscles in the neck, the fat beneath these muscles, your skin elasticity, and your bony foundations—especially in the chin. There are many different anatomic features that must be analyzed and addressed prior to your surgery. I will coordinate the features of your anatomy with your expectations, formulate a plan with you, and guide you through this process. In liposuction of the face and neck, there are a number of different techniques and devices that I must apply exactly to suit your precise anatomic features to achieve your best possible result.

Surgery involves a light general anesthetic and is safe and predictable. There is very mild swelling and virtually no bruising after surgery. There are usually no stitches, and you can return to work in as little as three to seven days and to some physical exercise in the first week. The surgical result relies on the fact that your fat layer, which forms the foundation for your skin, can be comfortably and artistically removed. After surgery your skin shrinks and molds down your reduced fatty framework. Oftentimes, I will add a chin implant and/or remove the fat beneath the neck muscles (platysma) and tighten these muscles as indicated.
