Nasal Surgery

Nasal surgery is the true art and science of plastic surgery. It is a case in which the difference of one millimeter can make the difference between spectacular and horrible.

It is the area in which there is no absolute standard, and the procedure becomes the truly artistic, creative, and sculptured. Men present with dissimilar complaints and dissimilar degrees of these complaints, and they are always right in what they see. It is just a matter of whether it can be predictably fixed or not. I have a very keen awareness of all these complaints and how much they disturb men. I will listen to you and treat these issues.

Men notice a variety of features, and some may be subtle or severe in your or my opinion, and we may agree on this or not. So this is a condition for which I always use computer imaging to make sure that we both see the same thing and to the same degree. Men commonly complain of a “big ball” on the end of the nose, a hanging or drooping tip, a hump on the top, a crooked nose, dents or bumps, difficulty breathing, watery discharge, or sinus problems. The anatomy of the nose is very straightforward with a quite-distinct framework of bone and cartilage, overlying skin that may be thick or thin, and the mucous membrane lining the nose with all its complex functioning. In the nose all of these different anatomic features must be analyzed and addressed prior to your surgery. The surgical plan includes a very thorough exam, computer images, and then illustrative drawings of your anatomy and my plan. I will coordinate the features of your anatomy with your expectations, formulate a plan with you, and guide you through this process. In nasal surgery the planning, preparation, technique, and synchronization of your and my artistic visions is exquisitely important, and I take this process very seriously with several visits, old photographs, and computer images. This way you are provided the best of all possible results. There are several categories of nasal surgery that I offer in my practice, which include:

• Ethnic Rhinoplasty: This is a specific sub-specialization of rhinoplasty performed by doctors like myself who are skilled and interested in rhinoplasty for men with specific ethnic features that must be observed, preserved, and dealt with artistically. This is often seen in Asian rhinoplasty and African-American rhinoplasty. I can help you with this issue.
• Revision Rhinoplasty: This is another highly sub-specialized area of rhinoplasty for men who have already had a procedure and desire to have it revised and made better.

Surgery involves a light general anesthetic and is performed where I do surgery, which is in a hospital setting. The surgery is safe and predictable. There are very mild swelling and very rare bruising after surgery. There are few small stitches, and you can return to work in as little as five to seven days and to some physical exercise in the second week. The surgical result relies on the fact that your skin will mold down around the artistically reshaped and re-molded bone and cartilage layer.
